Thank you for the message, I checked out the forum and it looks pretty lively. We would have to get completely caught up with what we will be offering for the chassis listed and now the '08 Saturn Astra before we can really take on a new manufacturer. Thanks again, Garrett

Greetings, In addition to ERDT, another successful Escort community is over at www.feoa.net. I'm sure there are many 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen owners there who would be interested in performance parts as well. Thanks for your consideration.

hey how are you. it was brought to my attention by one of my fellow escort forum members that your company may be willing to start producing perfomance parts for our community. i should probably browse the website a lil more. but my question is. what exactly can your company produce. i have a 3rd gen myself and probably most of the guys who will come here and post know me. but some things that i know personally that our community is in need of is: 1. better transmissions 2. availability of bottom end parts (forged pistons, rods, and possibly a lightened/balanced/knife-egded crank) 3. defiantly would like to see more N/A options for my fellow members such as cams, more header options(there are only 2 availible), pulley kits, better intake manifolds(for boosted application as well) preferably sheet metal. and maybe even offer head packages. currently, thats if they still even do offer them......Gude performance were the only avaible ones 4. possibly the introduction of a true bolt-on turbo kit for the 1.9L and 2.0L SOHC motors along with the 1.8L. i can help with the 1.9L/2.0L options if need be, being that i already have a perfectly working custom setup. y=i could possibly help you guys blueprint something and inform you of what needs to be addressed to make it work(it'll save you some footwork) 5. if you do superchargers, that is something a lot of my fellow members are interested in as well. a buddy of mine could also help out with that, as he did one on his(boostedgen3) if he comes over and posts. those are just some of the things we definatly need. once you start working with us u will see we are serious about our escorts(as funny as that may sound) but we are. if you would like to contack me personally i can be reached at: www.erdtonline.com/forum myname on there is same as what shows here. (nyinthabuilding05) or email me justinw@twistedvisionz-carclub.com thanks for even considering working with the escort community. lots of companie overlook the escort. when in reality that have just as much potential if not more than ever other mainstream compact

Hello, I have a 3rd gen as well (1997+) We really need N/A buildup parts. Pistons, Rods, Cranks, Cams, Valves, etc. One thing I was going to buy, but BDR quit making, was an Adjustable Cam Gear. Not spectacular, but it does make a noticeable difference and I would love to have one. Suspension components as well; anti-sway bars, tie-bars, strut bars, sub-frame connectors, etc. Thank you for your interest! Jet

I like where this is going, I guess I would have to know more about the motors. is there one block that all the motors are based on just with different specs or are there three or so different motors? how about the heads and the flanges, are there a few different flanges or are they all the same? Usually are parts supplies are come out in this order as long as I have a motor to base off of... •header flange •intake flange •Wiseco piston kit •UD pulley •phenolic intake gasket •main girdle •long tube header •turbo header basically what I would need is a bleak down on how the motors are related, engine codes and year ranges. If one of you guys could do that than this could be very promising. If anyone has a pistons from the each of the motors than I can send them off to Wiseco and I can have custom pistons available very soon. Garrett

I too have an Escort, though I have a 1st gen. I too would be interested in some bottom end parts. I run a turbo on my Escort and have already broken one cast piston. Sadly, I cannot upgrade because nothing is available. Another item I would like to add to my list of wants would be turbo cams. I can give you the breakdown on 1st gen engines, I'll let others chime in on the 2nd and 3rd gen cars. 1981-1985 had the 1.6l engine. they also had a hemispherical combustion chamber. all of these had a carb on them except the turbocharged models produced from 84-85. in 85 they changed over to the 1.9l engine. In 1985 this was only produced with a carb. carburated cars used a heart shaped combustion chamber called a high swirl chamber. In 1986 they had the carb 1.9 and the GT had a 1.9 HO, with multipoint injection and a tuned 4-2-1 header. the GTs went back to the Hemi head. I cannot remember if they still had a carb in 87 or if they switched to fuel injection for LX models, but somewhere between 87 and 88 they swapped to CFI for the base model escorts. the CFI cars had a different intake manifold flange than the EFI cars. also CFI cars use a D shaped combustion chamber with smaller valves. this is the same basic head that the 2nd gen cars use. thats all I can really think of right now. any other questions, let me know.

at the moment I am placing a large order of custom pistons with Wiseco. All I need to place an order is an OE piston and pin and basic engine specs with the head cc's. Because they are a custom application the total is about $600 with rinds pins and pin clips. As long as I have a EO part and feed back from someone in the Escort community I can make parts or have them made. this goes for header flanges, intake flanges, Phenolic intake gaskets, UD pulleys, etc. I don't have a contact at the moment for cams but if that where to be a largely requested item than I can get the ball rolling on that. I really don't have any good contacts wit ha cam manufacturer but I might have to look into that. As for the tranny, I really wouldn't be able to do a whole lot with a tranny as we pretty much exclusively work with engines. Garrett

Hello I am also a fellow escort tuner interested in new parts development, particularly engine components. There is very little made now as some of my fellow ERDT and FEOA members have stated. There is alot of money to be made supporting the Ford Escort in the aftermarket department. It is an increasingly popular platform that is common to find as well as the myth of no hordepower potential is growing smaller over time.

hi Tracer, what would you say is the parts needed most? we have strong partnerships with many manufacturers. here is what we can have done, give me a rating for each of these based on the demand that you have experienced. Pistons (Wiseco Pistons) Connecting Rods (Pauter Machine) MLS Head Gaskets (Cometic and Ajusa) Fasteners (ARP) Phenolic Intake Gaskets (OURSELVES) Clutch kits (OURSELVES) Steel Flywheels (Fidanza) Mild and Stainless Header Flanges (OURSELVES) Mild and Stainless Intake Flanges (OURSELVES) Custom "Iron Clad" Gaskets (Header and High Temp use) (Cometic and OURSELVES) Main Girdle (OURSELVES) Custom Motor/Tranny Mount Brackets (OURSELVES) Feel free to add to this list if you think there is something more important. This list is of what would be the fastest for us to make or have parts made. Garrett

I would have to do some research but say we use the OE type pressure plate and a carbon/kevlar disc with the pilot and through out bearing the kit would be upwards of $250 plus shipping. Garrett

One thing i wouldn't mind seeing get made is a shorty header like the one they had for the 2.0L Focus Spi engine, same engine as the 3rd gens but was in a ford focus, they stopped production on this header and continued making them for the zetec motor. I really want a shorty header cause i love the way they look and it will help me retain my catalytic converter. Not to mention it looks cool lol.

I'll take a look at some of the forums to take my ques from there, what i would need is a representative from the escort community, preferable someone in Souther Colorado that can basically speak on the communities behalf. question is, what site is the most active, what site covers the most escort technical info and is there anyone on the forum located in Colorado. once that stuff is squared out then i think we can start moving forward. FEOA is with out a doubt, the bigger and more active community. However, ERDT has alot more experience it seems. There's fewer noobs on ERDT than FEOA. Slapyo is the man on feoa, he runs that place. The SPI and 1.9 are really the two engines than need help. There's lots of stuff for the ZX2 and mazda 1.8. A good set of headers for the 2.0 would be amazing, ones that don't need to be modified to fit! I run a slightly modified 1998 Tracer.

I'm very interested in any performance part that you can make for a 3rd gen 'scort. Especially interested in N/A parts, suspension parts and drivetrain/axles.

i just got into the Escort seen I currently own a 2nd gen lx wagon powered by a 1.9 i was thinking about turboing it soon and any forged internals what b greatly app. And i agree with everyone else in here that there is a huge market for escort performance parts. And i would really like to see some turbo cams because even though u can still make good power with n/a cams but turbo cams would make alot more use of the turbos boost

I'll likely be attending SEMA this year I'm hoping to make good contacts that can with this as well. Garrett
